To solve your doubt, notice that this step in the workshop refers to installing the web service locally in the IIS (pages 53 -55).
Take into account that Windows XP (as from the workshop images) uses an older IIS version than that present in Windows 7, and therefore the web service installation is slightly different.
As a matter of fact, in Windows 7, this can be done easier by right-clicking the folder and “converting it” into a web application.
If you want to test that your installed web service application is running, you may access it directly from your browser by typing the URL address:
http://localhost/VacationService/Vacations.asmxOnce you have ensured that your web service is running Ok, you may proceed to invoke it as show in the workshop pages: 56 - 61.
